Building construction and fire prevention — See Ch. 90.
No person shall build any bonfire or burn any paper, hay, straw, lumber, rubbish, shavings, packing, leaves or other waste or combustible material within the Village limits of the Village of Lowville, except that the Village Board, on application, may approve a bonfire for community organizations for special events upon such terms and conditions as may be reasonable at the time.
Small contained fires for the sole and express purpose of food preparation within a self-contained barbecue unit or pit, manufactured or built for the sole purpose of barbecuing food, are permitted, provided that such fires are either on private property or in areas designated by the Village. Every fire kindled as herein permitted shall be continuously under the care and supervision of a competent person from the time such fire is kindled until it is extinguished.
Outdoor furnaces for residential and commercial use which burn wood, coal or other similar materials shall be prohibited within the confines of the Village of Lowville.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be guilty of a violation and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $250 for each offense or imprisonment for a period not exceeding five days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
