Pedestrians shall move, whenever practicable, upon the right
half of crosswalks.
Whenever any vehicle has stopped at a marked crosswalk or at
an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the highway, no operator
of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall pass such stopped
vehicle.
A. Pedestrians shall not leave the curb or sidewalk to cross at a controlled
intersection unless:
(1)
At the direction of a police officer.
(2)
On the green or "GO" traffic signal at intersections not having
pedestrian signals.
(3)
On the "WALK" signal at intersections having pedestrian signals.
B. Pedestrians shall not cross highways anywhere other than at intersections,
except at the places and in the manner directed.
No person shall board or alight from any vehicle while such
vehicle is in motion. No person shall ride on any portion of any vehicle
not designed or intended for the use of passengers, except employees
engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty or persons riding within
truck bodies in the space intended for merchandise.
Any person who violates the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to the general code penalty, §
1-301.99 of these Codified Ordinances.
