[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Silver Spring as indicated in article histories. Amendments noted where applicable.]
[Adopted 12-18-1985 by Ord. No. 85-15; amended in its entirety 8-9-2017 by Ord. No. 8-2017]
As of the date of the enactment of this amendment, the population of the Township being between 10,000 and 14,999 individuals as of the most recent decennial census, the compensation for each Supervisor is hereby set at $3,250 per annum. Said salary shall be automatically amended to the maximum amount as permitted by law without the necessity of further ordinance adoption, as provided in § 72-2 of this article.
The annual compensation of the members of the Board of Supervisors shall be the maximum amount as permitted by applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as the laws of the commonwealth may be amended from time to time and as the population of the Township grows or by other basis for the annual maximum compensation as established by the laws of the commonwealth.
Salary payable pursuant to this article shall be payable monthly and may be paid monthly or quarterly as determined upon passage of a motion by the Board of Supervisors.
Any change in salary, compensation or emoluments pursuant to this article occurring during a Supervisor's term, whether elected or appointed, shall be effective at the beginning of, and not before, the Supervisor's next term.
The provisions of this article shall be severable, and if any of its provisions shall be held to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, such unconstitutionality, illegality or invalidity shall not affect the validity of any remaining provisions of this article. It is hereby declared to be the legislative intent that this article would have been adopted and enacted as if such unconstitutional, illegal or invalid provision had not been included therein.
