It is necessary and expedient for the preservation of the public
safety that the owner or tenant of lands lying within the Township
on or near a street or roadway, or the intersection of two or more
streets or roadways, shall keep all brush, hedges and other plant
life growing within 10 feet of any street or roadway or within 25
feet of the intersection cut to a height of not more than 2 1/2
feet above the crown of the road, and no fence, wall, embankment,
or potential obstruction to vision of such kind, or of any kind, natural
or man-made, located within 10 feet of any street or roadway or within
25 feet of the intersection of two or more streets shall be allowed
to extend to a height exceeding 2 1/2 feet above the crown of
the road.
Should the owner or tenant receiving any such notice refuse
or neglect to cut the brush, hedges or plant life or to correct the
illegal condition within the time provided above, the Township Council
through such officer may provide for the cutting or correction of
the same by and under his direction. In such case the officer certifies
the cost thereof to the Council, which, after examining the certificate
and finding the same to be correct, shall cause the cost thereof (or,
if excessive, the reasonable cost thereof) to be charged against the
lands, which shall become a lien upon such lands, added to and becoming
part of the taxes next to be assessed and levied upon such lands and
shall bear interest at the same rate as other taxes and shall be collected
and enforced in the same manner as taxes.
