The provisions of this article shall be effective January 1 to December 31, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. prevailing time and 4:30 p.m. prevailing time, Monday through and including Friday, and shall apply to all parking meter zones established within the Town, except as otherwise provided herein.
Parking meter zones are hereby established within the Town upon those streets or parts of streets described in § 215-21, in which zones the parking of vehicles upon streets shall be regulated by parking meters between the hours specified in the schedule of any day.
The following locations are hereby designated as two-hour parking meter zones.
After the expiration of 60 minutes, following the issuing of the original summons for any motor vehicle which is parked, stopped or standing in violation of the provisions of this article or for which additional coins have not been deposited at the expiration of the time provided for in § 215-21, an additional summons shall be issued in the amount of $20.
On the parts of streets designated as parking meter zones, parking spaces shall be indicated by lines painted on the curb or pavements or by other appropriate means. In each space so marked there shall be installed a parking meter which, upon the deposit of a coin of the United States, as indicated on the parking meter, shall entitle a person to park his vehicle for such limited time as may be indicated on the meter.
No person shall park any vehicle in such a manner that it shall not be wholly within the parking space, as designated by the lines or markings thereof.
The charges for occupancy of parking spaces shall be as follows:
One quarter for each fifteen-minute period or fraction thereof for parking meters designated at the following locations:
The operator of any vehicle, upon entering a parking space during the time of limited parking, shall immediately deposit the proper coin in the parking meter installed in the parking space, dependent upon the length of time he/she desires to park such vehicle. Failure to deposit the coin shall be a violation of this article.
No vehicle shall remain parked in a parking space after the parking time has expired. Failure to move the vehicle or to deposit additional coins shall be considered as parking overtime.
No person shall deface, tamper with, damage, open or willfully break, impair or destroy any parking meter.
The Town Manager shall be responsible for the collection of coins from the parking meter. He/she shall designate an employee of the Town or appoint a suitable person to make such collections under such rules and regulations as he/she shall establish. All money collected from the parking meters shall be deposited by the Town Manager to the credit of the Town.
