For the purposes of this Chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this Section:
COIN AND PRECIOUS METAL DEALER
Any business or persons engaged in the business of purchasing
or trading precious metals, precious stones, jewelry or coins from
the general public for the purpose of salvage, scrap, recycling, resale
from a store or stand, except licensed retail jewelers, shall be subject
to the provisions of this Chapter.
REGISTER
A permanent record of all purchases or trades made by a coin
or precious metal dealer, documenting the following: date of purchase
or trade, name and address, age, sex, race, motor vehicle operator
or chauffeur license number, and social security number of any seller
or trader, and a full description of the object or property purchased
or traded.

A. All coin or precious metal dealers shall be required to secure a license and pay a fee as required in Chapter
605, Licenses, before doing business within the City.
B. Every
coin or precious metal dealer or any person doing business in the
purchasing or selling of precious metals, precious stones, jewelry
or coins or any similar other items shall maintain a register of all
such purchases or trades. This register shall be open for inspection
by the Police Department, and in the event any receipt is given, a
copy shall be maintained by such person which shall be open for inspection
by the Police Department.
