[Amended 10-7-2019 by Ord. No. 11-19, effective 10-28-2019; 8-17-2020 by Ord. No. 9-20, effective 9-7-2020]
A. Responsibility for damaged meters. The Department of Public Works
and Utilities is responsible for normal wear and tear of meters; but
damages to the meter due to tampering with the meter, freezing or
other negligence of the customer shall be paid for by the customer,
and such costs include the removal, repair and/or replacement and
resetting of the meter.
B. Costs. The charge for the replacement of a meter damaged due to tampering
with the meter, freezing or other negligence of the customer shall
be the market price of the meter at the time of replacement if a total
replacement is necessary. If the meter can be repaired, the customer
is responsible for the cost of repair. In addition, the customer shall
pay a fee for reinstallation or change of meter in the amount of $50
during normal business hours and $100 after normal business hours.
Connections at the meter shall be arranged so that the installer will not be required to do any pipe fitting but will only have to connect the meter by means of unions already in place. The union connections and any other pipe required for installing the meter shall be installed at the expense of the owner and shall remain as part of the permanent piping of the building. All plumbing shall conform to the National Standard Plumbing Code. Wiring for remote registers shall be as provided in §
461-28.
