Every three years the Municipal Council shall appoint an Inspector of Wires for the term of three years.
The Inspector of Wires shall devote substantially all of his/her time to performing his/her duties as Inspector of Wires. No person shall be appointed Inspector of Wires unless he or she has been duly licensed as a journeyman electrician for at least four years. The Inspector of Wires may be removed for cause by the Municipal Council after a hearing held for that purpose. The Inspector of Wires shall work under the direction of the Building Commissioner.

It shall be the duty of the Inspector of Wires to see that all laws, ordinances, and regulations relative to wires are strictly enforced, and he/she shall have all the duties and obligations and authority provided in MGL c. 166, § 32, as said statute may be from time to time amended.
Annually, in the month of January, the Inspector of Wires shall report to the Municipal Council all of his activities, including the amount of fees collected.
