Copies of the City of Quincy's official salary schedules are
on file in the office of the City Clerk.
A.Â
All full-time regular permanent employees of the City, except those
persons whose positions are specifically exempt from the provisions
of this section and from the provisions of MGL c. 149, § 33B,
shall be compensated for overtime work at the rate of 1Â 1/2 times
their regular hourly compensation for all hours worked in excess of
their regular full-time work week (minimum 35 hours) or in excess
of 40 hours in any one week or eight hours in any one day; said eight
hours shall be arranged to fall within a period of not exceeding nine
consecutive hours.
B.Â
Except in cases of extreme emergency, overtime employment may only
be authorized with the prior written permission of the Mayor.
If any City employee retires within 30 days of the effective
date of a salary increase, then as to such employee the salary increase
shall become effective 30 days prior to the effective date of the
increase in figuring the employee's pension.

The City Clerk shall receive the sum of $500 per year as Clerk
of the Board of Registrars.
A.Â
Any permanent employee, with the exception of School Department employees,
who, on or after July 1, 1976, retires, under the General Laws of
Massachusetts, from his position with the City or dies while in the
employ of the City shall receive $20 per day for his documented sick
leave at the time of retirement or death.
B.Â
Payments shall be computed at the current rate of pay on the date
of retirement or death. Said pay shall be 1/5 of his average weekly
salary on such date.
C.Â
In the event of death, payments shall be made to a beneficiary designated
by the employee in writing or, in the absence thereof, to his estate.

All vacancies in full-time positions in the municipal service,
except those directly appointed by the Mayor without confirmation,
shall be posted on a prominent place on the municipal website in keeping
with civil service requirements, affirmative action requirements,
and collective bargaining agreements at least 10 days prior to any
appointment to such position. Posting notice should include, at minimum,
the title of the position, description of the duties, educational
and or professional qualifications, compensation range and the name,
and email for the prospective applicants to obtain or send information.
