There is hereby authorized and established the Mount Olive Township,
Morris County, New Jersey, Fire Department, to be composed of three
companies, to be known as "Flanders Fire Company No. 1," "Budd Lake
Volunteer Fire Department of Mount Olive, New Jersey," and "Budd Lake
First Aid and Rescue Squad," and such additional companies as the
Township Council may authorize and approve.

Each fire company established by way of § 32-1 of Chapter 32 entitled "Fire Department" of the Code of the Township of Mount Olive shall be entitled to have and is authorized to have auxiliary units comprised of cadets and/or junior firefighters. The auxiliary units shall be subordinate to the fire companies. The auxiliary units shall be subject to the constitution and bylaws adopted by the fire companies for their auxiliary units as well as being subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations applicable to same.

Except as otherwise provided by law, no person shall become
a member of the Fire Department of the Township of Mount Olive unless
he:
A.
Is a citizen of the United States.
B.
Is sound in body and of good health sufficient to satisfy the Board
of Trustees of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of
New Jersey as to his eligibility for membership in the retirement
system.
C.
Has a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate and is able
to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
D.
Is of good moral character.
E.
Has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
Every member of the Fire Department shall, in each and every
year, perform at least 60% of duty, to be composed of actual attendance
and duty at fires and drills, and a record shall be kept of such attendance
and duty by the Chief of the Fire Department and reported to the municipal
officers annually.
Every person seeking to join the Fire Department shall make
application to the company or unit which he desires to join, and,
upon his election to membership by a vote of a majority of the unit
present and voting, he shall become a member in good standing of the
Fire Department, after approval of his membership by the Chief and
confirmation by the municipal officers, and his name shall be entered
on a roll of firemen kept by the Municipal Clerk.
