The purpose of this article is to regulate parking on Town of
Algoma roadways in the interest of public safety and welfare (§§ 340,
341, 343, 346, and 347, Wis. Stats.).
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
LARGE VEHICLE
Any automobile, truck, trailer, truck power unit, bus, recreational
vehicle and/or combination of vehicles:
A.
Having a gross vehicle weight in excess of 8,000 pounds and
exceeding 16 feet in length (including accessories, racks or other
physical extensions); or
B.
Exceeding eight feet in height measured from the roadway to
the highest point of the vehicle, excluding only antennas.
MOTOR VEHICLE
Vehicle which is designed for operating on land, which is
self-propelled and which can be used for transporting people and materials
upon any roadway.
PARKING
The standing of any motor vehicle or vehicle, whether occupied
or not, upon any Town-owned roadway, except when such motor vehicle
or vehicle is temporarily standing while actively engaged in loading
or unloading or while standing in obeyance of traffic directions or
signals.
PERSON
Any individual, firm, partnership, corporation or association.
TRAILER
Any unpowered vehicle or device designed for carrying property
or passengers wholly on its own structure and for being drawn by a
motor vehicle on a roadway. The most common trailer(s) dealt with
are boat, camper, recreational, utility and construction trailers.
