Every owner of a dwelling required by the New York State Uniform
Fire Prevention and Building Code (Uniform Code) to have a fire escape
shall keep in good repair and free from encumbrance a fire escape
installed in compliance with said Uniform Code and cause said fire
escape to be painted every four years. The Building Department, after
personal inspection, shall have the authority to require interim painting
and/or repairs, as may be deemed necessary.
Any person who, having been served with a notice or order to remove any violation of this article, fails to comply therewith within 30 days, or within such further reasonable time thereafter as fixed by the Building Department, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable as a Type E violation as set forth in §
1-15 of the Village Code.

No person, corporation or association shall rent, occupy or
use, being the owner or agent thereof, or suffer to be occupied or
used in the Village of South Nyack, any rooms or room in any building
above the second floor from the ground floor thereof as a dance hall,
lodge room or place of public meeting unless said building shall be
provided with outside iron fire escapes, extending from the floor
on which such room is located to the ground. The system and place
of such fire escapes shall be approved by the Board of Trustees of
said Village.

Any person, partnership or corporation who or which commits, takes part or assists in any violation of any provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject to a Type A penalty as set forth in §
1-15 of the Village Code.
