The Town Board of the Town of Arbor Vitae does hereby ordain
as follows:
A. No building or structure, or any part thereof, being used for commercial,
multifamily, industrial, or institutional purposes, shall hereafter
be built, enlarged, altered, or moved within the Town of Arbor Vitae
unless a permit shall first be obtained by the owner or his agent
from the Arbor Vitae Building Inspector.
B. Before permits can be issued by the Town of Arbor Vitae Building
Inspector, the following approvals shall be obtained:
(1) Town Plan Commission approval.
(3) Vilas County zoning approval.
(4) Town Board approval (if necessary).
C. Application for a building permit shall be made in writing upon a
blank form furnished by the Town Building Inspector and shall state
the name and address of the owner of the building and the owner of
the land upon which it is to be erected.
D. A building permit shall have lapsed and become void unless building
operations are completed within two years from the date thereof. To
continue construction after that date, a variance to obtain another
permit must be issued by the Town Board.

E. This article shall not be construed to require a permit for any repairs or minor alterations which do not change the occupancy area, structural strength, fire protection precautions, light or ventilation of the building. Note: Some commercial alterations may require approval from the Plan Commission as per the Town's design review standards in §
268-5.

F. Before receiving a building permit, the owner or his agent shall
pay to the Town Building Inspector the permit fees. Fees will be set
by the Building Inspector per approval of the Town Board.

G. The building permit shall be displayed on the property and be clearly
visible and remain there during the building or alteration period.
H. It shall be the duty of all Town officers to report at once to the
Building Inspector any building, alternations, or repairs which are
being carried on without a building permit as required by this article.
I. It shall be the duty of the Town Clerk to inform the Town Assessor
before the first day of May, of each year, the number of building
permits issued during the preceding year.
J. As per Chapters SPS 361 through 366. A compliance statement from
the supervising professional for the building shall be filed with
the Town Building Inspector before occupancy.
This article shall be enforced by the Town Building Inspector
by and under the direction of the Town Board.
This article may be amended from time to time by the Town Board
by the same procedure in which the article was originally adopted.
Any person, firm, or corporation who violates, disobeys, omits,
neglects, or refuses to comply with or resists the enforcement of
any of the provisions of this article may be required to forfeit not
less than $100 nor more than $500 for each offense. Each day that
a violation exists or is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate
offense.
If any section or part of this article is adjudged unconstitutional
or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of
this article shall not be affected thereby. All other ordinances or
parts of ordinances of the Town of Arbor Vitae inconsistent with this
article, to the extent of the inconsistency only, are hereby repealed.
