The following procedures are adopted to be followed responding to a complaint with reference to the appearance of property in the Town of Arbor Vitae:
Complaint received in the Town office.
Gather information from complainant. Town official or Town employee to physically view property regarding the complaint.
Letter written by the Town Board to the property owner stating complaint with a deadline of 30 days to comply with the cleanup.
After 30 days and noncompliance, turn matter over to Vilas County Zoning or Vilas County Health Department to enforce compliance with their ordinances. If a dilapidated building, turn matter over to Vilas County Corporation Counsel for enforcement of Wisconsin Statutes.
After 60 days, a letter to be sent to the County allowing one week for response regarding status.
If no effective response for cleanup after 90 days, turn matter over to the Town Attorney. Attorney fees and any expenses incurred to be paid by property owner. If not paid, to be placed on tax bill as a special assessment at the end of the year expenses incurred.
