The owner or owners, occupant or occupants, of each and every
dwelling house, store or other building which now exists or may hereafter
be constructed in the Township of Montague, shall at their own expense
cause the same to be properly numbered in accordance with the building
and numbering map on file in the Office of the Township of Montague.
Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed as an intention
on the part of the Township Committee of the Township of Montague
to except any street, road or avenue within the Township of Montague
which is not presently a public street, road or avenue, or to assume
any responsibility for the maintenance of any street, road or avenue.
Each building number shall be displayed in numerals or letters
not less than three inches in height and shall be visible from the
street on which the property fronts at the point where the street
access to such property intersects with the street. Multi-family dwelling
units shall, in addition to displaying a number for the building,
identify each separate dwelling unit at its entrance.
Any person who shall fail to comply with the provisions of this
chapter within 60 days after its final passage shall be subject to
a penalty of not less than $50 nor more than $500. Failure to comply
with the provisions of this chapter respecting any separate property
within the Township of Montague shall constitute a separate offense.
