Pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes § 9-185,
the Town Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics shall be appointed
by the Board of Selectmen. The term of office shall be four years
and until his or her successor has been appointed and has qualified.
A good faith effort will be made to employ a Town Clerk who is a resident
of the Town of Ashford. The first person so appointed to the office
shall be appointed upon the expiration of the term of office of the
official in office at the effective date of this article or the occurrence
of a vacancy in said office, whichever first occurs. (Note: In the
case of a vacancy in this position, selection procedures are enumerated
in the Town of Ashford Personnel Policies.)
