As used in this chapter:
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE
Shall mean:
a.
An employee of Upper Freehold Township who was hired prior to
January 1, 1999, who works a minimum of 31 hours a week on a regular,
full-time basis, or an employee of Upper Freehold Township who is
specifically listed as an Exception in subsection 9-4.3a or 9-4.4.
b.
An employee of Upper Freehold Township who was hired after January
1, 1999, who works a minimum of 31 hours a week on a regular, full-time
basis.
GOVERNING BODY
Shall mean the Township Committee of the Township of Upper
Freehold.
PERMANENT PART-TIME EMPLOYEE
Shall mean an employee of Upper Freehold Township who works
at least 15 hours a week but less than 31 hours a week on a regular
schedule.

a. There shall be a probationary period for all employees. Every employee
with the Township shall have an initial 120-day probationary period.
The probationary period shall cease only upon resolution of the Township
Committee.
b. An employee who is discharged during his/her probationary period
shall not have recourse to the grievance procedure as set forth in
this chapter. The Township shall have no responsibility for the re-employment
of a newly engaged probationary employee if he/she is dismissed during
his/her probationary period.
c. During a probationary period, the employee will not receive any benefits
that would normally accrue to a full-time permanent employee of the
Township such as sick leave or vacation days, but shall receive insurance
coverage pursuant to the applicable insurance plan(s). If the employee
is hired on a permanent basis, all benefits will accrue to him/her
as of the completion of the probationary period with the Township.
d. If an employee is injured during his/her probation and is extended a leave of absence pursuant to Section
9-14 Leave Due to Injury While on Duty, his/her probation will be placed on hold and will recommence at the return of the employee from injury leave.
Employees who have been employed by the Township prior to December
31, 1999, and are currently receiving benefits will continue to receive
benefits as a full-time employee.
The persons listed below shall be exempted from the requirements
of the minimum 35 hours work week:
