Every owner or occupant of a hotel, factory,
theater, opera house, music hall or other places of amusement or an
assembly hall of church or literary or charitable institutions shall
provide a sufficient number of doors, windows, stairs, exits and escapes
suitable and convenient for an emergency egress from such buildings;
and all such exits and escapes, at all times, shall be accessible
to the inhabitants or occupants thereof.

Any person, corporation or association violating
any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof,
be punishable by a fine of not less than $250 nor more than $1,000
or a term of imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both.
