A. 
Except where necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the direction of a police officer, code enforcement officer or official traffic control device, no person shall:
(1) 
Stop, stand or park a vehicle:
(a) 
On the roadway side of any vehicle stopped, standing or parked at the edge or curb of a street.
(b) 
On a sidewalk.
(c) 
Within an intersection, except when permitted by official signs or parking meters on the side of a highway opposite a street which intersects but does not cross such highway.
(d) 
On a crosswalk.
(e) 
Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb or within 30 feet of points on the curb immediately opposite the ends of a safety zone, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
(f) 
Alongside or opposite any street excavation or obstruction when stopping, standing or parking would obstruct traffic.
(g) 
In the area between roadways of a divided highway, including crossovers, except in an emergency situation.
(h) 
On any surface other than a paved or approved surface, excluding boats and boat trailers.

(2) 
Stand or park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except momentarily to pick up or discharge a passenger or passengers:
(a) 
In front of a public or private driveway.
(b) 
Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
(c) 
Within 30 feet upon the approach to any flashing signal, stop or yield sign or traffic control signal located at the side of the roadway, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
(d) 
Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station and on the side of the street opposite to the entrance of any fire station within 75 feet of said entrance, when properly posted, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
(3) 
Park a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading and unloading merchandise or passengers:
(a) 
Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
B. 
No person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle within 15 feet of a fire hydrant except when such vehicle is attended by a licensed operator or chauffeur who is seated in the front seat and who can immediately move such vehicle in case of emergency, unless a different distance is indicated by official signs, markings or parking meters.
C. 
No person shall move a vehicle into any prohibited area or away from a curb such distance as is unlawful.
A. 
Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle stopped, standing or parked wholly upon a two-way roadway shall be so stopped, standing or parked with the right-hand wheels of such vehicle parallel to and within (12) inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
B. 
Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle stopped, standing or parked wholly upon a two-way roadway shall be so stopped, standing or parked parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway, in the direction of authorized traffic movement, with its right-hand wheels within 12 inches of the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway or its left-hand wheels within 12 inches of the left-hand curb or edge of the roadway.
C. 
Except where angle parking is authorized, every vehicle stopped, standing or parked partly upon a roadway shall be so stopped, standing or parked parallel to the curb or edge of the roadway. On a one-way roadway, such vehicle shall be facing in the direction of authorized traffic movement on that portion of the roadway on which the vehicle rests.
D. 
No person shall park a vehicle upon any highway for the purpose of greasing or repairing such vehicle, except for such repairs as may be necessitated by an emergency and to effectuate only those repairs necessary to permit the vehicle to be moved off the roadway to complete repairs.
A. 
Whenever any police officer or code enforcement officer finds a vehicle standing upon a highway in violation of any of the foregoing provisions of this article, such officer is authorized to move such vehicle or require the driver or other person in charge of the vehicle to move the same to a position off the paved or main-traveled part of such highway.
B. 
Unattended vehicles.
(1) 
Whenever any police officer or code enforcement officer finds a vehicle unattended where it constitutes an obstruction to traffic, or any place where stopping, standing or parking is prohibited, such officer is hereby authorized to provide for the removal of such vehicle, semitrailer or trailer to a garage, automobile pound or other place of safety.
(2) 
Whenever a code enforcement officer or any police officer finds a semitrailer or trailer, without a tractor or towing vehicle attached, parked or unattended on any Village street, such officer or person designated by the Village Board is hereby authorized to provide for the removal of such semitrailer to a garage, automobile pound or other place of safety.
(3) 
Whenever a Code Enforcement Officer or any police officer, after proper notification, finds a vehicle unattended, blocking the construction, reconstruction or refurbishing of any roadway, such officer is hereby authorized to provide for the removal of such vehicle.

C. 
The owner or other person lawfully entitled to the possession of such vehicle may be charged with a reasonable cost for removal and storage, payable before the vehicle is released.
D. 
Storage shall be charged at a rate approved by the Board of Trustees plus the actual out-of-pocket costs incurred by the Village for towing.
A. 
Only pleasure-passenger motor vehicles not exceeding seven feet in height with passenger license plates are permitted and allowed to park on Village public streets in residential zones, except as set forth below:
(1) 
Commercial vehicles shall not be allowed to park on Village public streets in residential zones unless said commercial vehicle is actually engaged in loading or unloading at premises located at said street or is being used in connection with construction, repairs or emergency service relating to the premises located within said street.
(2) 
For the purpose of this section, buses and cabs shall be allowed at any time to discharge and take on passengers.
(3) 
For the purpose of this section, a "commercial vehicle" shall be defined as any vehicle other than pleasure-passenger motor vehicles with passenger license plates, and a "commercial vehicle" shall further be defined as set forth in the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
(4) 
"Residential zones" shall be defined as those areas designated and delineated as residential districts on the Zoning Map and in the Building Zone Ordinance of the Village of Lindenhurst,[1] and for the purpose of this section shall also include all property whose usage is primarily residential, regardless of its zoning.

B. 
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park, use and occupy a house coach, mobile home, truck or any other vehicle or motor vehicle as the home or living abode or place of habitation of one or more persons, either temporarily or permanently, on any public property in any part of the Village.
C. 
No commercial motor vehicle with a total gross weight in excess of 2 1/2 tons shall be permitted at any time to be parked or stored on any residentially zoned property unless said commercial vehicle is actually engaged in the loading or unloading of materials or services or is being used in connection with construction, repairs or emergency service relating to the residential property on which said commercial vehicle is parked or stored.

D. 
No commercial motor vehicles shall be permitted at any time to be parked or stored on any Village public street or in any public parking lot unless said commercial vehicle is actually engaged in the loading or unloading of materials or services or is being used in connection with construction, repairs or emergency service relating to the premises adjacent to said street.

A. 
This chapter may be applied on private property as provided by agreement between the owner or lessee of such private property and the Village. Nothing therein shall be construed however to impose any obligation upon the Village to enforce the terms of this chapter on private property. No enforcement may occur without appropriate signs being plainly posted on such private property.
B. 
It shall be unlawful for any person to place upon or cause to be placed upon real property other than his own any vehicle without the express consent of the owner or lessee of such property.
C. 
Provided that the traffic regulation is plainly posted and a valid enforcement agreement exists between the Village and the owner or lessee of such private property, the absence of the property location in Article XI of this chapter shall not be a defense to any violation hereof.
