Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act (N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et
seq.), the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced
in the Village of Ridgewood.
The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau
of Fire Prevention in the Ridgewood Fire Department.
The local enforcement agency shall enforce the
Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all
buildings, structures and premises within the established boundaries
of the Village of Ridgewood, other than owner-occupied one- and two-family
dwellings, and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the
Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.
The local enforcing agency established by §
149-2 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of life-hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The local enforcing agency established by §
149-2 of this article shall be a part of the Village of Ridgewood Fire Department and shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Fire Official who shall report to the Chief of the Ridgewood Fire Department.
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-206 and N.J.S.A.
52:27D-208 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act, any person aggrieved by
any order of the local enforcement agency shall have the right to
appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals of the Village of Ridgewood.
The permit fees established by the Uniform Fire Code shall be as set forth in Chapter
145, Fees. Fees for single-event individual permits shall be paid at the time of application. All other permit fees are annual permit fees and are to be paid on January 1 of each year for the calendar year but, when paid, shall cover only the balance of the calendar year for which the same is paid or payable. Permit fees for the year 1985 for annual permits, however, shall be assessed at 1/2 of the regular annual rate.
