Members of the Police Department are permitted to be employed as safety
or security personnel for private employers during off-duty hours and only
at hours that will not interfere with the efficient performance of their duty
for the Borough. Any person wishing to employ off-duty police shall first
obtain the approval of the Chief of Police, which approval shall be granted
if it is the opinion of the Chief of Police that such employment would not
be inconsistent with the efficient functioning of the Police Department and
would not unreasonably endanger the health or safety of the officers.

A. Private employers shall pay directly to the Borough Administrator
an hourly rate equal to the rate of time and a half for the top rate of pay
for a patrolman applicable at the time employed in the Bradley Beach Borough.
The private employer shall also pay the rate of $25 per day per officer employed
to the Borough Administrator, which sum is to be used for filing fees and
administrative expenses. The private employer shall also be charged the sum
of $100 per day for the use of each police vehicle.
B. The Chief of Police or his designee and the contractor
or public utility shall estimate the number of hours anticipated to be worked,
and payment for said estimate work shall be paid by the private employer to
the Borough Administrator every two weeks or at the end of the assignment,
whichever comes first. If additional work time is required due to unanticipated
circumstances, and such work is approved by the Chief of Police or his designee,
the private employer shall be liable for payment to the Borough for all of
Bradley Beach such additional hours worked at the specified rate.
