Grounds shall be cleared of accumulations of trash, open pits
and anything else that might cause injury. All poisonous and harmful
plants shall be cleared from the area. Grading to drain off surface
water shall be accomplished in an approved manner. Stoves and barbecue
grills for open fires shall be capable of keeping the fire contained
and under control and sufficiently separated from picnic tables. Areas
in which children may play shall be away from busy highways. Openings,
such as abandoned wells, dropoffs, sewage areas and ponds shall be
properly isolated, preferably by fencing. Where playground equipment
is provided, it shall be away from natural pathways of traffic. Playground
equipment shall be safely constructed, structurally sound, free from
corrosion and firmly anchored.
All wiring installed in recreational areas shall comply with
specifications of the National Electrical Code and all state and local
codes. Electrical circuits shall be protected by fuses or circuit
breakers of appropriate size. Outmoded or defective wiring, overloaded
circuits, unnecessary extension cords, ungrounded electric motors
and other electrical appliances shall not be allowed. Electric service
shall be provided on a continuous basis to all food service and sanitation
facilities.
