There is hereby established a Safety Committee of the Borough of Dumont.
The Safety Committee of the Borough of Dumont shall consist of the persons holding the following positions:
A. 
Mayor.
B. 
Administrator.[1]

C. 
Borough Clerk.
D. 
Chief of Police.
E. 
Superintendent of the Department of Public Works.
F. 
Chief of the Dumont Fire Department or a representative designated by the Chief.
G. 
Captain of the First Aid and Emergency Squad or member of the First Aid and Emergency Squad designated by the Captain.
H. 
A member of the governing body, to be appointed by the Mayor and Council, for a term of one year expiring on December 31 of the year of appointment.
I. 
Such number of additional persons as may from time to time be appointed by the governing body to serve at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council.
Members of the Safety Committee of the Borough of Dumont shall serve without compensation.
The Safety Committee of the Borough of Dumont shall meet monthly, except July and August, and shall have the following duties or responsibilities:
A. 
Work with department heads to develop a comprehensive safety and loss control program.
B. 
Review all accident reports and monitor accident trends and frequencies.
C. 
Perform and coordinate annual safety inspections and identify locations requiring more frequent inspections.
D. 
Conduct safety education programs.
E. 
Report its findings and recommendations, in writing, at least once each year, to the Mayor and Council.
F. 
Perform such other duties that may be requested by the Mayor and Council.
A. 
The Mayor, or in his absence, the Borough Administrator, shall serve as Chairperson of the Safety Committee of the Borough of Dumont.[1]

B. 
Within 30 days following its creation and annually thereafter during the month of January of each year, the Safety Committee shall select a secretary to record minutes of Safety Committee meetings.
C. 
All members of the Safety Committee shall be entitled to participate in all discussions and vote on all issues.
D. 
The Safety Committee may establish such other rules and regulations for its operation not otherwise inconsistent with the terms of this article.
