The Department of Public Works of the Borough,
heretofore created, is hereby continued.
The Department of Public Works shall consist
of a Superintendent of Public Works, the personnel of the former Street
and Road Department and of the Department of Parks and Playgrounds
and such other employees as may be from time to time authorized by
resolution of the Council.
The Superintendent of Public Works shall:
A. Not be required to be a resident of the Borough.
B. Hold office until the first day of January next succeeding
his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualifies.
C. Be appointed by the Mayor by and with the consent
of the Council.
The Department of Public Works shall, subject
to the rules and regulations adopted from time to time by the Mayor
and Council and the resolutions of the Mayor and Council, have charge
of the streets, highways and public places in the Borough, the repair
and maintenance of the trunk sewers and pumping stations and all other
public works instituted or conducted or under the control of the Mayor
and Council and shall take care of such other matters as may from
time to time be referred to it by the Mayor and Council.
