When the Mayor and Council, pursuant to N.J.S.A.
2A:170-66, shall deem it necessary for reasons of health, safety and
welfare, to close a street or road in the Borough to traffic, a resolution
closing any street or road to traffic shall be duly adopted by the
Mayor and Council setting forth the reasons for said action.
A notice of the closing of a street or road
to traffic shall be posted at the beginning and ending points of the
closed section of such highway or road, and a barricade shall be erected
at such points.
Any streets or roads in the Borough so closed
to traffic may be reopened by order of the Mayor and Council.
No person shall, without permission of the Borough:
A. Mutilate or remove any notice provided for by §
380-32; damage, destroy, or remove any warning sign, or signal; remove any barricade referred to in §
380-32, placed or posted by the Borough at any point along the streets or roads in connection with or relating to the closed portions thereof.
B. Drive a vehicle over or upon the closed section of
such street or highway.
C. Violate any rule or regulation for the use of such
street or highway, duly made by the Mayor and Council, as authorized
by law.

Any person who violates any provision of this
article shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not
exceeding $2,000, or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days,
or both.
