[Adopted 9-23-1976 as Secs. 24A-1 through 24A-5 of the Charter and Revised Ordinances]
The Mayor and the Board of Aldermen of the City are hereby designated as the municipal waterworks system authority of the City, to deal with the construction, extension, enlargement, maintenance and operation of the waterworks system installed, or to be installed in the future, in the City, with all the powers as are established by, or as may be contained in, Connecticut General Statutes Title 7, Chapter 102, as the same may be amended from time to time.
The Tax Collector of the City is hereby designated as the collector of the municipal waterworks system connection charges, and he is hereby empowered to take all steps authorized under Connecticut General Statutes Title 7, Chapter 102, in the name of the City to collect such charges in any civil action.
The Ansonia-Derby water company, its successors and/or assigns is hereby designated as the collector of the municipal waterworks system use charges, and it is hereby empowered to take all steps authorized by the Connecticut General Statutes Title 7, Chapter 102, in the name of the City to collect such charges in any civil action.
There shall be a Water Commissioner of the City, whose responsibilities and duties shall be as follows: to supervise the operations of the municipal waterworks system; to coordinate all activities concerning the service of present and future customers of such system, including the installation of meters therefor; to act as liaison between the City and the Ansonia-Derby water company, its successors or assigns; to assure the smooth extension of such system, if deemed appropriate; to report semiannually, in June and December of each year, to the Authority concerning the operation of waterworks system during such period; and to perform such other duties as may be required or established by such Authority.
A. 
Commencing on March 1, 1974, and biennially thereafter, the Mayor of the City is authorized to appoint the water commissioner, subject to the approval of the Board of Aldermen.
B. 
The term of office of such Water Commissioner shall be for two years.
C. 
The Water Commissioner shall receive such salary as shall be duly established by the Board of Aldermen of the City.
