City of Derby, CT Article XVIII Parks and Recreation Director

§ 32-62 Office created; appointment.

There is hereby created the office of Parks and Recreation Director, who shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the Board of Aldermen. The Parks and Recreation Director shall work pursuant to the direction of the Mayor.

§ 32-63 Term of office.

The term of office of the Parks and Recreation Director shall be for two years, as commencing on the first day of July 1998, and shall serve until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. Any vacancy for the unexpired term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment.

§ 32-64 Duties.

The Parks and Recreation Director shall have the duties of planning, supervising, managing and controlling all recreation activities under City sponsorship, under the supervision and direction of the Mayor. The Director shall also be responsible for supervising the maintenance, repair and care of all City-owned real estate used for active and passive recreation.

§ 32-65 Salary.

The Recreation Director shall be paid an annual salary in such amount as the Mayor determines is appropriate based upon qualifications, experience and performance, subject to the approval of the Board of Aldermen.
