WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners (the governing body) deems it necessary for the efficient conduct of the affairs of the Town of West New York that the Town Attorney of the Town of West New York shall have an Assistant; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners (the governing body) deems the creation of the office of Assistant to the Town Attorney of the Town of West New York beneficial to the public welfare;
Now therefore, be it ordained by the Board of Commissioners of the Town of West New York, County of Hudson, State of New Jersey, as follows:
There shall be created, and there hereby is created, the office of Assistant to the Town Attorney of the Town of West New York.
The duties and powers of said Assistant shall be to perform such legal services as shall be required of him from time to time by the Town Attorney to assist the Town Attorney in the proper discharge of the duties required of him as Town Attorney of the Town of West New York.

The power to appoint the Assistant is hereby vested in the director of the department to which the Assistant to the Town Attorney is assigned.

The annual salary of the Assistant shall be as established by ordinance, payable in equal semimonthly installments on the first and 15th days of each and every month or at such other time as shall hereafter be determined, and he shall receive no extra compensation or fees.

The title of the office shall be such as may be deemed appropriate by the director of the department to which the Assistant to the Town Attorney is assigned.
