WHEREAS, the orderly conduct of the business of the Municipal Court of the Town of West New York requires that the Town have a Municipal Court Public Defender,
The Commissioners of the Town of West New York, Hudson County, New Jersey, ordain as follows:
The position of Municipal Court Public Defender for the Town of West New York be and the same is hereby created.
The Municipal Court Public Defender shall be appointed by the Director of Revenue and Finance for a term of one year or until his successor is appointed and qualified.
The Municipal Court Public Defender shall defend individuals charged with nonindictable offenses, when assigned to do so by the Judge of the Municipal Court of the Town of West New York and shall perform such other duties on behalf of said defendants as provided by law and the rules governing the courts of the State of New Jersey.
The Municipal Court Public Defender shall be an attorney at law of the State of New Jersey.
The Municipal Court Public Defender shall receive an annual salary as set forth in the Salary Ordinance[1] of the Town of West New York, to be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal employees are paid.
