[Adopted 5-5-1986 as Title One, Ch. X of the 1986 Code]
A.
All streets shall bear such names as may appear on the Official Zoning Map of the City of Franklin, said map being incorporated into this Code.[1]

Editor's Note: The Zoning Map is included in a pocket at the end of this volume.
B.
The Mayor and Council shall affix such names to newly accepted streets as they may deem fit. The acceptance of a street as a public way confers no right or privilege upon the prior owners of said way to determine the names to be so applied.
[Amended 9-14-1998 by Ord. No. 98-4]
The Fire Chief shall assign lot and building numbers in a consistent and harmonious fashion to the various buildings and parcels of land which front upon public ways. No person shall affix to any building within the City of Franklin numerals or letters designating a building or a lot number other than the one assigned by the Fire Chief when such spurious numerals or letters could be misconstrued by police, fire-fighting or other emergency personnel or the general public.
[Amended 9-14-1998 by Ord. No. 98-4]
The Planning and Zoning Administrator shall maintain an accurate registry of street names in use and shall advise the Council of proposed names which may cause confusion or duplication or otherwise be inappropriate for use in the creation of new streets. All submissions to the City Council pertaining to new street names or changes shall include the recommendation of the Fire Chief.
