Pursuant to Section 11 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act[1] (P.L. 1983, c. 383), the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code shall be locally enforced in the Township of Haddon.

The local enforcing agency shall be the Bureau of Fire Prevention, which is hereby created in the Department of Public Safety of the Township of Haddon.
The local enforcement agency shall enforce the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the codes and regulations adopted under it in all buildings, structures and premises within the Township of Haddon other than owner-occupied one- and two-family dwellings and shall faithfully comply with the requirements of the Uniform Fire Safety Act and the Uniform Fire Code.
The local enforcing agency established by § 122-12 of this article shall carry out the periodic inspections of life hazard uses required by the Uniform Fire Code on behalf of the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The local enforcing agency established by § 122-12 of this article shall be part of the Department of Public Safety of the Township of Haddon and shall be under the direct supervision and control of the Director of Public Safety.

A. 
Appointment of the Fire Official. The local enforcing agency shall be under the direct supervision of the Fire Official, who shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Haddon.
B. 
Term of office. The Fire Official shall serve for a term of three years. Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term.
C. 
Inspectors and employees. Such inspectors and other employees as may be necessary in the local enforcing agency shall be appointed by the Director of Public Safety upon the recommendation of the Fire Official and the Board of Commissioners.
D. 
Removal from office.
(1) 
Inspector and other employees. The Inspector and other employees of the enforcing agency shall be subject to removal by the Director of Public Safety upon the recommendation of the Fire Official for inefficiency or misconduct. Each inspector or employee to be removed shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard by the Director of Public Safety.
(2) 
Fire Official. The Fire Official shall be subject to removal by the Director of Public Safety upon the recommendation of the Board of Commissioners for inefficiency or misconduct. Said Fire Official shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard by the Director of Public Safety and the Township Commissioners prior to said removal.
Pursuant to Sections 15 and 17 of the Uniform Fire Safety Act,[1] any person aggrieved by any order of the local enforcement agency shall have the right to appeal to the Construction Board of Appeals of Camden County.

To assist with the municipal enforcement and administration of the Uniform Fire Safety Code, there is hereby established a Coordinating Council, which shall consist of one representative from each of the four fire districts of the Township of Haddon (such representative to be designated by the Chairman of the respective Board of Fire Commissioners) and the Director of Public Safety of the Township of Haddon, who shall serve as Chairman of the Coordinating Council. The functions of the Coordinating Council shall include recommendations of appointments to the local enforcing agency, providing an effective means of coordinating code enforcement activities and providing assistance in local enforcement of the Uniform Fire Safety Code. The Coordinating Council shall meet at the call of the Director of Public Safety.
