Hereafter, no automatic amusement game of the type commonly known as "bagatelle," "baseball" or "pin" amusement games or video-type games or computer-type games, such as asteroids, space invaders and other similar games, or any other similar games or devices, and particularly, but not by way of limitation, any coin-operated automatic game, machine or device of the type heretofore mentioned, and no amusement boxes commonly known as "jukeboxes" shall be installed, operated or maintained in any public or quasipublic place or in any building, store or other place wherein the public are invited or wherein the public may enter, unless the owner of said game or machine has first obtained a license for that purpose from the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Middlesex as herein provided.

The license for the placing, operation, maintaining, or use of such amusement devices, or machines mentioned aforesaid shall be issued to and in the name of the proprietor of the premises where the machine or machines are to be installed, for the period commencing June 1 of each year to May 31 of the following year. The fee for the issuance of said license shall be $150 for one machine (either jukebox or amusement) and a flat fee of $350 for more than one machine (either jukebox or amusement).
No more than five machines or devices of the type herein mentioned shall be permitted to be used or operated in any one place, location or premises.
This chapter is enacted for the purpose of raising revenue and for the regulation and control of automatic amusement games of the type commonly known as "bagatelle," "baseball" or "pin" amusement games or similar machines or devices.

Any person who shall knowingly permit a minor under the age of 16 years to play or operate any of the machines or devices licensed by this chapter, except for the operation of jukeboxes, shall be punishable therefor as herein provided.
Any person who shall use or permit to be used any of the machines or devices hereunder for the purpose of gambling shall be deemed to be guilty of a violation of this chapter and punishable therefor as hereinafter provided.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter, except for the operation of jukeboxes, shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $200 or imprisonment in the county jail for a period not exceeding 90 days.

Any and all provisions of this chapter providing for the licensing of amusement games, together with amendments thereto, which ordinance is set forth as §§ 125-1 through 125-8 above, may be waived by the Mayor and Council, by resolution, when the amusement machines are to be used on property owned or leased by the Borough of Middlesex or when the use of the machines is sponsored by the Borough of Middlesex and/or the Middlesex Recreation Commission or any other commission created by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Middlesex.
