There is hereby created the office of Township
Engineer.
The Engineer shall not receive a fixed salary
but shall be paid for such services as he shall perform in accordance
with a schedule of fees and charges to be established by the Township
Council by resolution.
The Engineer shall be a duly licensed civil
engineer of the State of New Jersey and shall have practical experience
in acting as a Township Engineer. He need not be a resident of the
Township. In lieu of appointing a single individual as Engineer, the
Council may appoint a firm of engineers, each individual member of
which firm shall possess the same qualifications as herein prescribed
for the Engineer.
The Engineer shall have, possess and exercise
all of the powers and duties prescribed for a Township Engineer by
general law or by ordinance of this Township and, in addition, shall
render to each and every office, department, board and agency of the
Township government professional services of an engineering nature,
such as consultation, investigation, evaluation, planning, design,
computation, draftsmanship, supervision, construction and operation,
incident or relating to any Township engineering project or construction
proposed, undertaken or accomplished as may be required of him from
time to time by the Manager or the Council. He shall also make or
direct the making of maps, plats and surveys required by various officers,
bureaus and departments of the Township and shall keep current the
Official Tax Map of the Township.

The Engineer shall hold office for a term of one year from January
1 of the year of his appointment and until his successor has been
appointed.
