There is hereby created the Department of Public Works for the prosecution of public works and the maintenance of Township equipment and property at the direction of the Manager. The following positions are hereby created: Director, assistant foreman, heavy equipment operator, heavy equipment operator/mechanic, laborer/driver, and laborer.
In addition to such related duties as shall be assigned by the Manager, the following general duties shall be performed:
A. 
Director of Public Works: under the direct supervision and direction of the Township Manager, shall have general supervisory authority over the Department and shall have charge of and supervise the work involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of public works facilities and such related work as required by the Manager, including but not limited to executing plans for the effective utilization of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials and supplies; organizing and developing suitable work programs for the varied functions of public works installation, maintenance and repair; and assigning, instructing and supervising individuals and groups involved in public works and employees engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of all public works of the Township, including the streets, storm sewers and the like.
B. 
Assistant foreman: assistant to Director in discharge of his duties.
C. 
Heavy equipment operator: operation of heavy construction equipment, trucks, light- and medium-weight power equipment and miscellaneous unskilled labor tasks.
D. 
Heavy equipment operator/mechanic: operation of heavy construction equipment, trucks, light- and medium-weight power equipment and miscellaneous unskilled labor tasks. Under direction, performs varied mechanical work involved in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and mechanized equipment, working with various machine and hand tools common to the trade; does related work as required.
E. 
Laborer/driver: unskilled mechanical and manual work, driving a truck and doing related work including maintenance of equipment.
F. 
Laborer: the performance of unskilled mechanical and manual work as assigned and related work as required.
