§ 280-6 Motor vehicles not to be driven on sidewalks.

No person shall operate any motor vehicle longitudinally upon any sidewalk in the Borough; nor shall any person operate any motor vehicle upon or across any sidewalk except in order to gain access to or egress from a driveway or alley at such locations where the curb, if such sidewalk is curbed, shall have been properly cut down for the purpose. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $50 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 10 days.

§ 280-7 Speed limits established on certain streets.

Any person who shall operate a vehicle or tractor at a speed in excess of that hereby established thereof, upon any of the portions of streets herein specified, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35 and costs of prosecution, and, in the event that the speed limit shall be exceeded by more than five miles per hour, to an additional fine of $2 per mile for each mile in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit, or to undergo imprisonment as now or hereafter authorized by law.

§ 280-8 Left turns prohibited at certain intersections.

It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle or tractor, traveling in the direction or directions hereby indicated, at any of the following intersections, to make a left turn:

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution, or to undergo imprisonment as now or hereafter authorized by law.

§ 280-9 Traffic signals at certain intersections.

At the following intersections, official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

East Main Street and Clayton Avenue.

Main Street and Church Street (Square).

West Main Street and Grant Street.

West Main Street and Potomac Street.

East Main Street and Roadside Avenue.

East Main Street and Virginia Avenue.

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution, or to undergo imprisonment as now or hereafter authorized by law.

§ 280-10 One-way streets established.

Any person who shall operate a vehicle or tractor upon any street or portion thereof hereby established as a one-way street other than in the direction hereby established for vehicular traffic shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine on not more than $10 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 10 days.

§ 280-11 Through highways established.

The following streets or portions thereof are hereby established as through highways, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) on all streets and alleys at their intersection with such through highways (except for such intersections where traffic shall be controlled by official traffic signals). All vehicles and tractors approaching any through highway upon any intersecting street or alley on which an official stop sign shall have been erected shall come to full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering such through highway:

§ 280-12 Stop intersections established.

The following intersections, located in the Borough of Waynesboro, are hereby declared to be stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named street upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such stop intersection, as hereinabove required shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution, or to undergo imprisonment as now or hereafter authorized by law.

§ 280-13 U-turns restricted.

It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle or tractor to make a U-turn, or reversal of direction, between any street or alley intersection, or at any of the following locations or intersections when traveling in the direction or directions hereby indicated:

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution, or to undergo imprisonment as now or hereafter authorized by law.

§ 280-14 Play highways authorized.

The Mayor is hereby authorized to designate as "play highways," whenever he shall deem such action advisable, and for whatever period of time directed by him, any portion of any street or alley in the Borough whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted. No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated, except in case of emergency, with special permission of the Mayor or of the police officer in charge, who shall first clear such highway of all persons using such highway for the purpose for which it was set aside. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $10 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five days.

§ 280-15 No trucks permitted.

It shall be unlawful for any persons to operate a truck on the following streets except to make local deliveries:
