Any employee who intends to resign from Borough
employment in good standing shall give his or her department head
reasonable advance notice thereof which in no event shall consist
of less than two weeks' advance notice, exclusive of vacation days.
An employee who does not submit a resignation
in compliance with the provisions of this article, or who is absent
from work for a period of three or more days or who fails to return
to work within three days after the expiration of an authorized lease,
without notifying his or her department head of the reason therefor
and of the employee's intention to return to work (unless it shall
not have been possible to provide such notice) may be considered as
having resigned without notice and not in good standing.
An employee who leaves Borough employment without
having resigned in good standing as hereinabove provided shall have
such fact entered in his or her personnel record, and may be denied
the opportunity of future employment by the Borough and may be denied
a satisfactory reference from the Borough.
It shall be the policy of the Borough to consider
with favor the application of a former employee who resigned in good
standing and whose work record during such former employment was satisfactory.
