As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BUILDING
Any structure used or intended to be used as a dwelling or place of business or industry, or any other use requiring a location identity, but shall not include any accessory building located upon a lot where there is also a main building.
It shall be the duty of Taylor Borough to notify present owners of properties of any new number which has been assigned to said properties which will require a number, and it shall be the duty of such owner so notified within 30 days to comply with the further provisions of this chapter.
Numbers, as assigned to each building in the Borough according to the provisions of this chapter, shall be affixed to or painted upon or carved upon such building or upon a permanent standard, base or support between such building and street.
A. 
The number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on or over each front door, on the front transom bar, front transom glass or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance, the same number to be of paint, metal or enamel, and at least three inches in height, the color of the numbers to be in contrast to the immediate background, and shall be so placed as to be in full view from the street.

B. 
It shall be unlawful to cover any house number with any sign, drapery, or other obstruction tending to conceal such number, and all old numbers shall be removed from any house, building or other structure when a new number has been assigned, and when so directed by the Borough Manager or other designated person designated from time to time by the Borough Council.
C. 
The Borough Manager or other designated person is hereby authorized to require the numbering and renumbering of any house, building or other structure in accordance with this chapter.
D. 
The property owner shall reaffix or renew all numbers that shall not continue to conform to the requirements of this section; provided, in the case of buildings occupied by other than the owner thereof, the occupant shall also be jointly and severally responsible for maintaining numbers upon such buildings as hereby required.
Whenever a building shall hereafter be erected in the Borough, the owner and occupant thereof shall forthwith apply to the Borough Manager or other designated person for the official number thereof. The number shall be assigned by the Borough Manager or other designated person in conformity with the requirement set forth in this chapter for numbers for existing buildings and shall, within 30 days after being assigned to such building, be affixed by the owner of occupant thereof in the manner required by this chapter in the case of existing buildings and shall thereafter be maintained as hereby required for the numbers of existing buildings.
Any person, firm or corporation who or which shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine or not more than $10 per day, costs of prosecution and attorney’s fee; provided, each day's continuance of a violation of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense.
