Editor's Note: Through an agreement the Borough authorized the Hunterdon County Health Department to provide technical and professional public health services as agent for the Borough Board of Health. The agreement so providing is on file in the Clerk's office.
There shall be a Board of Health in the Borough of High Bridge which shall consist of seven members. The members of the Board of Health shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Members shall be appointed for terms of four years, except that of the members first appointed, one shall hold office for one year, one for two years, one for three years and two for four years. Appointments to fill vacancies shall be made in the same manner as original appointments, and all such appointments shall be for the unexpired term only.
The Board of Health shall have the power and authority to adopt ordinances relating to the protection of the health of Borough residents and shall have all the jurisdictions conferred upon Boards of Health by Title 26 of the New Jersey Statues Annotated. The Board of Health shall elect a President and a Vice President from its members and shall appoint a Secretary who may be a member of the Board.
The members of the Board shall serve without compensation.
The Board may appoint a Health Officer or a Sanitary Inspector (not a member of the Board) who shall be legally licensed by the State Department of Health.
