Editor's Note: Pursuant to Res. No. R92-71, adopted 6-8-1992, effective 7-1-1992, this section has been revised to replace "Town Council" with "Board of Selectmen."
All prior ordinances and other enactments, or parts of such, of this Town regulating traffic and parking are hereby repealed, except that this repeal shall not affect or prevent the prosecution or punishment of any person for any act done or committed in violation of any such ordinance or other enactment prior to the taking effect of this chapter.
If any Article, section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or provision of this chapter shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such adjudication shall not affect, impair or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the Article, section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or provision thereof directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment shall have been rendered.
The violation of any provision in this chapter that constitutes a violation within the meaning of the New Hampshire Criminal Code shall be punishable by such penalties as the court may direct pursuant to its authority and jurisdiction over such matter. Other violations of this chapter shall be punishable by the appropriate penalty established hereunder, which shall not exceed $1,000.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PARKING
The stopping of a vehicle upon a street otherwise than in compliance with traffic signs or signals for a period of time longer than reasonably necessary to load or unload passengers or freight.
VEHICLE
Any device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported upon a highway, including, without limiting the foregoing, any motor vehicle, bicycle or horse-drawn vehicles.
