The owner, operator or manager of a theater licensed hereunder
shall provide a matron, licensed under the Article, for the supervision
of such unaccompanied children and who shall give undivided attention
thereto during the time that any such child shall be in the theater.
The matron shall be licensed by the Town Clerk and the license fee
of $2 shall be paid to the Town Clerk by said owner, operator or manager.
Applicants for a matron's license under this chapter must
file an application with the Town Clerk on application blanks furnished
by the Town Clerk, in the form of an affidavit, which shall give the
following information:
A. Name, age and description of applicant.
B. Legal residence of applicant.
C. A statement as to whether or not applicant has been convicted of
any crime, misdemeanor or violation of any municipal ordinance, the
nature of the crime and the punishment or penalty assessed therefor.
D. Two photographs of the applicant taken not more than 60 days prior
to the date of filing the application. Such pictures shall be two
by two inches showing the head and shoulders of the applicant in a
clear and distinguishable manner.
E. Statement that applicant is a citizen of the United States of America
and whether such citizenship was obtained by birth or naturalization,
date and place where obtained.
The Town Clerk, upon receipt of such application for a matron's
license, shall refer same to the Nassau County Police Department for
such investigation of the applicant as the Police Department deems
necessary for the protection of the public good and welfare.
Each applicant for such matron's license shall qualify
by such physical or other examination as the Town Clerk shall prescribe
as is relevant to the functions to be performed by such matron.
Each applicant for a matron's license, upon being qualified
as heretofore provided and upon the payment of the required two-dollar
license fee, shall receive from the Town Clerk:
A. A license containing the seal of the Town of Hempstead and the signature
of the issuing officer, and shall show thereon the name, age, address,
photograph of the licensee, fee paid, the date of issuance and date
of expiration.
B. A metal or plastic badge which shall bear the words "Theatre Matron"
and shall show thereon the license number and the calendar year for
which the license is issued, in figures plainly discernible.
Each licensed theater matron shall conspicuously wear at all
times such badge issued by the Town Clerk while the matron is on duty.
It shall be unlawful for any person to use the theater matron
license or wear the theater matron badge issued under this chapter,
other than the one to whom it was issued.
