A. Applicants
shall be recruited from local, regional, or national geographical
areas as deemed necessary to assure an adequate supply of qualified
candidates for the positions.
B. The
preparation of all recruitment bulletins and notices shall be the
responsibility of the Personnel Director. All such notices shall comply
with Federal, State, and local Statutes on Equal Employment Opportunity.
C. Notice
of job openings shall be posted on bulletin boards in each department.
D. Candidates
for employment shall make application in the manner prescribed by
the Personnel Director. The application form shall include pertinent
information necessary to determine minimum qualifications required
for employment. The application form shall comply with Federal, State
and local Statutes on Equal Employment Opportunity.

A. Standardized
written tests may be administered for open positions. In addition,
a standard interview may be conducted to gain additional information
concerning specific skills and ability requirements necessary to qualify
for the position.
B. All
job candidates who are determined to be otherwise acceptable after
completing the above selection process, will be required to satisfactorily
complete a pre-employment physical. The examination will be conducted
by a qualified medical doctor, selected by the Personnel Director,
at the expense of the City. Medical examinations will not be required
of temporary, part-time, or seasonal employees.

It is the policy of the City to permit and encourage inter-departmental
transfers, provided, of course, that the candidates for the transfer
possess the minimum qualifications necessary to perform the job and
that job openings exist.
