All special waste as defined in this Chapter shall be disposed
of by residents of the City of Richmond Heights in compliance with
the requirements of this Chapter. In no case shall a resident deposit
special waste in any refuse container or recyclables container or
bin for pickup by the City's solid waste hauler.

Any resident desiring to dispose of special waste shall contact
the contractor for an inspection appointment. An employee of the contractor
shall examine the special waste at the scheduled time and determine
the most appropriate method of removal and will either arrange for
said removal or refer the resident to the appropriate removal entity.
Removal of special wastes shall be at the resident's expense. Special
waste consisting of explosive and incendiary material such as ammunition,
blasting caps and dynamite shall be removed under the supervision
of the Police Department or by an agency designated by the Police
Department.

Major appliances, as defined in this Chapter, and other items
which are collected by the contractor under the provisions of agreements
authorized by the City Council shall continue to be collected by the
contractor at no additional charge to residents or the City of Richmond
Heights. These include, but are not necessarily limited to, refrigerators,
freezers, tires and batteries. Removal of such items shall be subject
to prior notification to the contractor by the resident.
