The City Clerk upon his or her election shall take the oath
of office and enter into such bond as required at the time of his
or her election.

A. The
City Clerk shall, in addition to other duties which are or may be
required of him by this Code or other ordinances, attend all meetings
of the Board of Aldermen.
1. The City Clerk shall keep a correct record of all proceedings of
the Board of Aldermen in a suitable record book furnished by the Board
of Aldermen for the purpose and labeled "Record of the City of Peculiar,"
and shall also keep a book so furnished labeled "Ordinance Book of
the City of Peculiar," in which shall be recorded all ordinances of
the City of a general nature.
2. The City Clerk shall be custodian (subject to supervisory control
of the Mayor) and safely keep the City Seal, all records, papers and
bonds belonging to the City, including official bonds.
3. The City Clerk shall be the General Accountant of the City and shall
keep accurate accounts of the City Collector and City Finance Director,
provided at any time the Mayor and Board of Aldermen may by ordinance
provide for a disinterested accountant to make a statement of such
accounts.
4. The City Clerk is empowered to administer official oaths and all
other oaths to persons presenting demands against the City or appearing
as witnesses before the Board of Aldermen or Mayor.
5. The City Clerk shall attend all meetings of the Board of Aldermen,
prepare and attest all warrants ordered on the City Treasury, and
when signed by the Mayor attach the City Official Seal to such warrants
and to all other official acts of said Board, including licenses,
when required by law, or ordinance so to do.
6. As soon as the abstract of assessment of property within the City
liable to taxation for City purposes, shall be obtained from the County
Clerk and rate of taxation fixed by the Board of Aldermen, shall extend
the amount levied against each lot or parcel of real estate, in proper
columns, in the tax books and add the totals, and when completed shall
certify to, attest thereof to the City Collector, taking duplicate
receipts therefor and for the amount of taxes therein represented
to be due, one (1) of which receipts shall be filed in the City Clerk's
office and the other delivered to the City Finance Director.
7. The City Clerk shall perform such other duties as may be from time
to time required by the Board of Aldermen.
8. The City Clerk shall procure all necessary stationery, books, printed
blanks, furniture and articles for the use of City Officers.
9. The City Clerk shall not permit any record or paper pertaining to
the City Clerk's office to be taken out of such office, except by
some City Officer having a receipt therefor.
10. At the expiration of the term of office for which appointed, such
City Clerk shall deliver to the successor, when duly qualified, or
to the Board of Aldermen when requested by them, all books, papers
and property appertaining to the City Clerk's office.

It shall be the duty of the City Clerk to safely and securely
keep the ordinance book of the City of Peculiar, Missouri, and all
original ordinances, orders and resolutions which have been passed,
approved and signed. The City Clerk may, and shall, permit their examination
in his office and in his presence but in no event permit their removal
from his custody except on the order of some competent court.
