The Mayor, with the approval of the Municipal Council, shall appoint a Parking Clerk for the City of Taunton as provided by MGL c. 90, § 20A1/2, for a term of five years. The Parking Clerk shall be removable for just cause by the Mayor with the concurrence of 2/3 of the members of the Municipal Council. Vacancies shall be filled in a similar manner.
The Parking Clerk reports his/her work to the Municipal Council and shall have the authority to supervise and coordinate the processing of parking violation notices. The Parking Clerk shall have the authority, subject to the approval of the Mayor and Municipal Council, to hire personnel or contract by competitive bid for such services as may be necessary to perform the duties required. All persons employed by the Clerk shall be subject to the provisions of MGL c. 31 (Civil Service). The Clerk shall perform all such duties and responsibilities as are set forth in MGL c. 90, § 20A1/2, as amended, and shall have all the powers detailed therein.
