[Adopted 3-22-1994; amended 5-23-2000 (§ 2-58 of the 2010 Code)]
There shall be created the position of Coordinator, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA Coordinator), who shall work in conjunction with the Building Department to bring about compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Duties and responsibilities shall be as follows:
A. 
Survey all public buildings, departments, programs and services to determine accessibility issues.
B. 
Develop a transition plan for self-evaluations.
C. 
Monitor and update transition plan as necessary.
D. 
Organize and oversee a compliance team.
E. 
Maintain communication with the public, the independent living center and the Commission for Individuals with Disabilities.[1]

F. 
Monitor changes in accessibility laws and inform City officials, departments and boards of such changes.
G. 
Establish a grievance procedure and serve as hearing officer.
H. 
Take other steps necessary to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Stipend for this position shall be $3,000 or as negotiated.
