There shall be a Department of Public Works, the head of which
shall be the Director, there shall also be an Assistant Director of
Public Works, which Department shall consist of:
F. Division of Equipment Maintenance.
Within the Department of Public Works, there shall be a Division of Engineering, the head of which shall be the Township Engineer. The Division shall assist in the performance of all duties of the Township Engineer as set forth in §
5-16 of the Code.
Within the Department of Public Works, there shall be a Division
of Roads, the head of which shall be the Supervisor of Roads. Under
the supervision of the Director of the Department, the Division shall:
A. Maintain and repair all Township streets, culverts and drains.
B. Undertake and administer road construction projects and road surfacing
and resurfacing projects which are to be performed by the Department
on force account.
C. Maintain all Township streets in a clean and safe condition for travel,
free of obstructions and hazards, and remove snow and ice therefrom
as required.
D. Install, repair and maintain street and traffic signs, lines and
markers.
E. Receive applications for and authorize street openings and driveway
permits and administer the Township's ordinances relating to street
and driveway openings, with approval of the Township Engineer.
Within the Department of Public Works, there shall be a Division
of Sanitation, the head of which shall be the Supervisor of Sanitation.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Department, the Division
shall:
A. Provide for garbage and refuse collection and disposal thereof, pursuant
to ordinance.
B. Prepare specifications for sanitation services and supervise the
performance of the service.
C. Provide for and supervise a Township clean up program with the assistance
of the Division of Roads.
D. Carry out all Township ordinances relating to the above functions.
Within the Department of Public Works there shall be a Division
of Water, the head of which shall be the Supervisor of Water. The
Supervisor of Water shall have the state-issued licenses necessary
to operate the various facilities assigned to the Division. Under
the supervision of the Director of the Department, the Division shall:
A. Operate, control and maintain the Township's water supply and distribution
system, including any reservoirs, wells and well fields and all equipment
and appurtenances for treatment, distribution, conservation and protection
of the public water supply.
B. Provide for the reading of meters and report the results of such
readings to the Division of Utility Collection, Department of Budget
and Financial Operations.
C. Maintain and service all fire hydrants owned by the Township and
supervise and enforce the Township's interest in public contracts
for fire hydrant service.
D. Develop programs for the extension and improvement of public water
services in the Township.
Within the Department of Public Works, there shall be a Division
of Sewers, the head of which shall be the Supervisor of Sewers. The
Supervisor of Sewers shall have the state-issued licenses necessary
to operate the various facilities assigned to the Division. Under
the supervision of the Director of the Department, the Division shall:
A. Operate and maintain the Township's sanitary sewer system, including
all collectors, mains, lines, valves, pumping stations and equipment
and appurtenances for collection, treatment and discharge.
B. Develop programs for the extension and improvement of public sewers
in the Township.

Within the Department of Public Works, there shall be a Division
of Equipment Maintenance, the head of which shall be the Supervisor
of Equipment Maintenance; there shall also be a Fleet Manager. Under
the supervision of the Director of the Department, the Division shall:
A. Provide for and supervise the care, storage, use and maintenance
of motor vehicles and motorized equipment owned by the Township in
accordance with policies set by the Director.
B. Maintain accurate records on equipment usage and repairs.
C. Prepare specifications for the purchase of new equipment.

The Division of Buildings, Grounds and Parks, which was created
on April 9, 2002, by Ord. No. 13-2002, is hereby transferred to the
Department of Public Works, under the supervision of the Supervisor
of Buildings, Grounds and Parks. Under the supervision of the Supervisor
of Buildings, Grounds and Parks, the Division shall:
A. Operate and maintain public buildings and grounds owned or leased
by the Township.
B. Provide custodial and janitorial service for all Township buildings.
C. Administer publicly owned properties.
D. Plant, care for and trim public parks and greens.
E. Maintain and repair playfields and playgrounds and recreational areas
and facilities, as requested by and pursuant to the instructions of
the Division of Recreation.
