There is hereby established an executive bureau in the Department
of Public Safety known as the "Bureau of Inspection" for the purpose
of providing an enforcing and coordinating agency for code and ordinance
administration. Such Bureau shall operate under the direction of a
Chief of the Bureau, which position is hereby created. The Bureau
shall carry out its functions through three agencies, each with its
own inspector, namely the Building Inspector, the Plumbing Inspector
and the Electrical Inspector.
The Chief of the Bureau of Inspection shall be appointed by
the Council of Vandergrift Borough in the manner of the appointments
of other officials and employees of the Borough and shall serve at
the pleasure of Council.
The Chief of the Bureau of Inspection shall act as the Code
Enforcement Officer and, in that capacity, shall be the enforcing
agency for all codes adopted by the Borough. He shall act as the investigating
agency as required in all matters pertaining to the Building, Electrical,
Plumbing and Housing Codes.
The Chief of the Bureau of Inspection shall operate from the
administrative office of the Borough and shall maintain a master property
file for use of all municipal agencies.
The Chief of the Bureau of Inspection may request Council to
retain such assistants, consultants or other services as he may deem
necessary to carry out the purposes of the codes.
