State snowmobile laws (as amended through 1971) adopted except
as otherwise specifically provided in this article, the statutory
provisions describing and defining regulations with respect to snowmobiles
in the following enumerated sections of the Wisconsin Statutes, are
hereby adopted by reference and made a part of this article as if
fully set forth herein. Acts required to be performed or prohibited
by such statutes as required by this article:
A. Section 350.01, Definitions.
B. Section 350.02, Operation of snowmobiles on or in the vicinity of
highways.
C. Section 350.03, Right-of-way.
D. Section 350.04, Snowmobile races, derbies and routes.
E. Section 350.05, Operation by youthful operators restricted..
F. Section 350.07, Driving animals.
G. Section 350.08, Owner permitting operation.
H. Section 350.09, Head lamps, tail lamps and brakes, etc.
I. Section 350.10, Miscellaneous provisions for snowmobile operation.
J. Section 350.12, Registration of snowmobiles; train use stickers.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall
upon conviction thereof forfeit not less than $10 nor more than $20
together with the costs of prosecution for the first offense and not
less than $25 nor more than $50 together with the costs of prosecution
for the second offense within a year.

The intent of this article is to provide a means for persons
to travel from a residence and lodging establishment within the limits
of the Town of Arbor Vitae, Vilas County, Wisconsin, for the shortest
distance that is necessary for a person to operate a snowmobile to
the snowmobile route or trail that is closest to that residence and
lodging establishment.
This article is adopted as authorized under § 350.18(3)(a),
Wisconsin Statutes.
This article authorizes snowmobile travel on a roadway or shoulder
of a highway as follows:
A. All Town roadways or shoulders of such roadways not designated as
snowmobile trail routes with the exception of state highways.
This article designates the roadways and/or shoulders of specific
highways for snowmobile travel by persons residing in or staying at
a lodging establishment within the limits of the Town of Arbor Vitae,
Vilas County, Wisconsin, to travel for the shortest distance that
is necessary to reach the snowmobile trail or route that is closest
to that residence or lodging establishment subject to the following
conditions:
A. Snowmobiles shall be operated on the extreme right side of the roadway
and travel with the flow of traffic.
B. Snowmobiles shall be operated in single file.
C. Headlights shall be on at all times.
D. Snowmobile operators shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicular
traffic and pedestrians.
Snowmobile operators violating any of the above conditions are
subject to the underlying violations of operating on the roadway.
A snowmobile operated on a portion of the roadway or shoulder
of a highway pursuant to this article shall observe roadway speed
limits.
This article shall be enforced by the Vilas County Sheriff’s
Department or other authorized state law enforcement agency.
Wisconsin state snowmobile penalties as found in § 350.11(1)(a),
Wisconsin Statutes, are adopted by reference.
The provisions of this article shall be deemed severable and
it is expressly declared that the Town Board would have passed the
other provisions of this article irrespective of whether or not one
or more provisions may be declared invalid. If any provision of this
article or the application to any person or circumstances is held
invalid, the remainder of the article and the application of such
provisions to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected.
The snowmobile access routes authorized for the operation of
snowmobiles shall be used as such from December 1 through March 31,
or whenever the official snowmobile trails are declared legally open
for travel, whichever is shorter.
