A Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) is herewith created in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-183, Chapter 388 of the Laws of 1997, to reward members of the Neptune City United Fire Company No. 1 and First Aid Squad for their loyal, diligent and devoted service to the residents of the Borough of Neptune City.
The Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) shall provide for fixed annual contributions to a deferred income account for each volunteer member that meets the criteria set forth below; that such contributions shall be made in accordance with a plan to be established by the Borough Council of the Borough of Neptune City pursuant to P.L. 1997, c. 388, and that such plan shall be administered in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, the United States Internal Revenue Code and this chapter.
The LOSAP shall provide for annual contributions to each eligible member whom the borough has determined has performed and accrued 100 points of service 50 points for associate members) in a particular calendar year pursuant to the point system schedules set forth below. The Borough of Neptune City reserves the right to amend said point system and schedules pursuant to state law, rules and regulations.
The maximum annual contribution amount for each year of future service for each eligible volunteer member shall be $1,150. The maximum annual cost of this program shall be $30,000, and shall be distributed pro rata among eligible members.
Each active member shall be credited with a certain number of points for volunteer services provided to the Borough of Neptune City First Aid Squad in accordance with the following schedule:
