As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BICYCLE
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-104.
ELECTRIC BICYCLE
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-117.1.
ELECTRIC PERSONAL ASSISTIVE MOBILITY DEVICE (EPAMD)
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 21-101(j), and shall specifically include, but not be limited to, hoverboards.
MOPED
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-134.1.
MOTORCYCLE
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-136.
MOTORIZED MINIBIKE
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-134.4.
PLAY VEHICLES
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 21-101(m), and shall specifically include, but not be limited to, skateboards.
RIDE
To be carried by bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, electric personal assistive motorized devices (EPAMD) or play vehicles in such a way that the bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, electric personal assistive motorized devices (EPAMD) or play vehicles bear the weight of the person in possession. Includes in all cases being astride bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, electric personal assistive motorized devices (EPAMD) or play vehicles.
SCOOTER
As defined in the Maryland Code, Transportation Article, § 11-154.1.
WALK
To propel or hold bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, electric personal assistive motorized devices (EPAMD) or play vehicles in such a way that the person in possession's weight is not upon the bicycle, electric bicycle, moped, motorized minibike, motorcycle, scooter, electric personal assistive motorized device (EPAMD) or play vehicle. Does not include being astride bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, electric personal assistive motorized devices (EPAMD) or play vehicles.
It shall be unlawful for any person in possession of bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorized minibikes, motorcycles, scooters, or play vehicles to ride upon any sidewalk or pedestrian crosswalk within the Town limits. Children under the age of 12 who are in possession of nonelectric and nonmotorized bicycles are exempt from the provisions of this section.

It shall be unlawful for any person in possession of a bicycle, electric bicycle, moped, motorized minibike, motorcycle, scooter, electric personal assistive motorized device (EPAMD) or play vehicle to ride such bicycle, electric bicycle, moped, motorized minibike, motorcycle, scooter, electric personal assistive motorized device (EPAMD) or play vehicle in a manner contrary to the provisions set forth in the Transportation Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland Code upon any street or highway in the Town.
It shall be unlawful for any person to ride a skateboard in the Town of Chesapeake City, whether on streets, roads, Town-owned/leased property, parking areas, or any other section thereof except where specifically permitted.
It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian or adult person having care or custody of a minor under 18 years of age to permit the minor to ride a bicycle, electric bicycle, moped, motorized minibike, motorcycle, scooter, electric personal assistive motorized device (EPAMD) or play vehicle in the Town of Chesapeake City, except where specifically permitted.

Any person violating the provisions of § 272-15 or 272-16 and/or the parent/legal guardian of an individual under the age of 18 who violates the provisions of § 272-15 or 272-16 hereof shall be guilty of a municipal infraction.
The parent/legal guardian of an individual under the age of 18 who violates the provisions of this article shall be liable for all fines and/or damages caused by the juvenile. Appropriate law enforcement personnel and/or persons designated by the Town to enforce this article may confiscate any skateboard that is being used in an illegal manner.
